Role: Service Desk Technician
Location: Bristol, UK
Hours: Full time - rotating shift pattern through Monday to Sunday, which will consist of 2 day shifts on, 1 day off, 2 night shifts on, 3 days off.
Salary: £23,000 rising to £24,900 after passing probation

About the role:

We are looking for a passionate individual to become part of a small and friendly Service Desk team. This is an exciting entry level opportunity to work for an established business with a great reputation within the marketplace. Reporting to the Service Desk Manager, this role is responsible for operating Apak’s software products where hosted on an ASP (Application Service Provider) basis and to resolve first line support queries for customers on all of Apak’s software products in line with service level agreements (SLAs). In this role, you will be working to support our clients by carrying out time-critical checks on computer software and processes, whilst delivering efficient telephone support. You will also handle daily computer security and help resolve system alerts, liaising with teams across the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide telephone, email and service desk ticket support, resolving queries for all of Apak’s software products
  • Performing tape and online backups, monitoring and rescheduling as required
  • To process high value electronic payment to various system interfaces
  • Application testing of new functionality and software developments
  • Carrying out Linux server patch upgrades.

About you:

Ideally you should have previous IT service desk experience, however this is not essential, and we are open to applications to those with a passion for IT and high quality customer service.

A good knowledge of Microsoft Office products and operating systems is important. Some experience with Linux operating systems and/or Oracle database would be useful but not essential. You’ll also need to be a good team player, but comfortable with working alone at times under pressure. You’ll also need to be a good team player.

If you have previous IT service desk experience, experience with Linux operating systems and / or Oracle database would be useful along with knowledge of security and health and safety protocols they would love to hear from you.

You may have experience of the following: Service Desk Technician, 1st Line Support, Helpdesk Technician, 2nd Line, IT Support Engineer, Systems Administrator, Network Engineer, etc.
