A History of Summit – A Look Back at Our Previous Events

With the 2019 Global Auto Finance Summit on the horizon, we thought we would take a trip down memory lane to revisit Summits of the past. A lot of things have changed since things began in 2011 and we look forward to welcoming many familiar faces back to this year’s event.

2011 – Summit was born!

2011 saw the inaugural Summit take place at Hampton Court. The day proved a successful occasion for Senior Business and IT professionals working in the Wholesale Finance industry. The one-day event saw presentations from Daimler Financial Services, Mazda Europe, Santander and Royal Bank of Scotland who provided their expert opinions and views on best practice in Floorplanning Finance.

During the Customer User Group session, Apak Group demonstrated its new user-defined workflow tool which has been integrated into WFS and allows users to create, assign and track items of work generated.

We believed the summit offered an invaluable opportunity for interactive dialogue between Apak Group and its clients, potential clients and business partners so came back bigger and better two years later.

2013 – ‘Our most successful Summit yet’

Over 100 clients, prospective clients, industry experts and Apak team attended, representing over 40 leading Floorplan providers across the UK, Europe, Russia, and the United States attended 2013’s iteration of Summit. The event was held at the historic Tower of London and was a unique opportunity to network and to gain invaluable insights into the global business and IT trends shaping our industry.

Apak’s customers shared stories on working with WFS (Apak’s Wholesale Floorplan Financing Solution), and the efficiencies and increased dealer satisfaction created along with outlining the continued developments on the roadmap and previewed the forthcoming Business Intelligence application that was currently under development.

2015 – Banking Hall Bonanza

2015’s event came out of London’s Banking Hall and the expansion continued as delegate numbers continued to increase. Peter de Rousset-Hall and Marguerite Watanabe returned to Chair the event for the second time where the topic was ‘Information, Insights and Innovation’ that provided thought-provoking sessions and highlighted where industry leaders have disrupted the norm.

As part of the day's events, we carried out a live industry survey with an open mic session around Centralization vs Decentralization, Technology and Innovation hosted by Ian Dewsnap from Benchmark Consulting.

2017 – Four continents represented at the Fourth Global Summit

Now in its fourth version of the event, the 2017 Summit was held at London’s St Pancras Renaissance Hotel where we had a record number of delegates and speakers jam-packed into a captivating day at a breath-taking location.

2017’s theme was driving wholesale finance transformation from industry, business and technology perspective as delegates heard from industry leaders from MotoNovo Finance, BMW Group Financial Services, NextGear Capital UK and many more.

The popular Senior Exec panel was back and gave a global view as additional geographies were represented. The 2017 event hosted delegates and speakers from four continents.

2019 – A new dawn for auto finance

Apak Group, along with parent company Sopra Banking Software, are proud to announce a significant transformation of the Global Wholesale Finance Summit for the event’s 5th incarnation at Goodwood House on September 26th 2019.

Prior to joining Sopra Banking Software in October 2018, Apak Group have organised and run the Global Wholesale Finance Summit as a biennial event since its inception in. The event has become widely recognised as the world’s leading wholesale auto finance event, attracting the globe’s leading captives, specialist lenders and banks.

With Sopra Banking Software adding the Apak string to its significant auto finance bow however, complementing their existing lease and loan solution Cassiopae, the company now offer a market leading end to end auto finance solution.

To reflect that added strength and enable the company’s shared clients and prospects to integrate ideas and insight, Apak and Sopra Banking Software are delighted to present the re-branded Global Auto Finance Summit.

The event will now offer a widened agenda with end-to-end sessions and views, giving attendees extra opportunities to learn from more industry experts and network with an expanded audience of peers.
