Whether it’s travelling abroad for a holiday or heading out of the door for a long day at the office, leaving a pet at home can be a disheartening experience for any owner. Fortunately, dog-owners at Apak won’t have to be apart from their fluffy friends today, as Friday 21st June marks Bring Your Dog To Work Day!
It’s a well-known fact that dogs make great companions and can offer friendship, assistance as therapy and guide dogs and decreased stress levels and with Bring Your Dog To Work Day, they are also given the chance to make awesome “co-workers” (I use this in the lightest term possible).
Bring Your Dog To Work Day is an annual international event that raises money for charities dedicated to making a difference to the welfare of dogs. Bring Your Dog to Work Day has been running since 2014 having been founded by natural pet products brand Hownd and raises money for charities dedicated to making a difference to the welfare of dogs.
As well as raising funds for a great cause, Bring Your Dog to Work Day could have some positive benefits for employee well-being.
Since 2014, the year Bring Your Dog To Work Day was established, we have witnessed a growing number of businesses across the UK that allow dogs in the workplace and this will be the second time that Apak Group has opened its doors to our employee’s dogs.
Last year, over 12 dogs graced our Yate office and overall the day was a great success and the dogs were well behaved, very cute, and created a great atmosphere within the office with Douglas the Pug [pictured below] winning the Cutest Pooch Competition.
The benefits of having pets in the office have even promoted some companies to implement pet-friendly initiatives all year-round. For example. At Amazon’s Seattle headquarters, more than 6,000 dog employees show up for work each day alongside their owners.
Although Apak hasn’t opened its doors 365 days of the year for its staff, Bring Your Dog To Work Day is definitely up there with one of our favourite days of the year. You can keep up with all of the day’s shenanigans by following us on Twitter @ApakGroup or if you just want to look at some of the worlds newest workforce by searching #BringYourDogToWorkDay.
